US rap star Eminem has performed his first concert since cancelling dates on his European tour four years ago. At the time Eminem - whose real name is Marshall Mathers - was being treated for addiction to sleep medication. Hundreds of fans turned up to see the 36-year-old play the free concert at MotorCity Casino's Sound Board in his hometown of Detroit. He mostly performed material from his new album Relapse - which is his first record in five years. Best selling In February, the album's first single broke a US download record. Crack A Bottle sold more than 418,000 online copies, the most ever for a song's in its first week of release. The single, which also topped the Billboard Top 100, has become the third-best selling download of all time in the US. It sits behind Lady GaGa's Just Dance, on 419,000, and Flo Rida's Low, on 467,000. We Made You, the star's latest single, is currently number four in the UK singles chart. The album is widely expected to debut at number one this week, after selling 64,000 copies on Monday. In an interview with Radio 1's Zane Lowe, Eminem revealed how he had to overcome writer's block before he could record the new material. "There were literally a couple of years where I couldn't write anything," he said. He has also spoken candidly of a drug and alcohol addiction, for which he received treatment for in rehab. Eminem admitted he had needed to "pull back from the spotlight" to help with his recovery.
