Kravitz's debut film at Cannes

The film featuring musician Lenny Kravitz's silver screen debut has opened in Cannes.

He and Mariah Carey have supporting roles in Precious, a hard-hitting tale of an obese girl abused by her parents.

Kravitz said he thought a small role in what he called a "incredible, deep and amazing" story was the ideal debut.
