Edmonds fronts TV show for free

Edmonds has made a successful comeback to mainstream TV

TV presenter Noel Edmonds does not claim a fee for his Sky1 show Noel's HQ, his spokesman has confirmed.

During an item broadcast over the weekend, Edmonds said he was not paid for fronting the show, which campaigns on behalf of the public.

"I do not get paid a penny to do this show. I decided: no fee. I wanted to put my heart and soul into it."

The money that would have been paid to the Deal Or No Deal host has been used to set up a charitable trust.

The revelation came while the 60-year-old passionately described the situation of a seriously injured Royal Marine.

Joe Townsend has been battling with his local council over plans to build a specially-adapted bungalow.

Edmonds has enjoyed a successful TV comeback in recent years.

He made his name as BBC Radio 1 presenter, before moving to television and fronting shows such as Multi-Coloured Swap Shop, Top of the Pops and Noel's House Party.

After several years away from mainstream broadcasting, he returned in 2005 to host the Channel 4 show Deal Or No Deal, which went on be a huge success.
