Former police chief and London mayoral candidate Brian Paddick has left I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!

Paddick received the fewest viewers' votes and was booted off the ITV show.

He spent his last night behind bars with 40 rats and cockroaches trying to win the ingredients for a cooked breakfast for the other celebrities.

He said that after a career in police and politics, he wanted to do something "trivial" but he found jungle life "pretty tedious".

"For a long time I've been doing serious stuff - thirty years in the police and running for mayor. It's all bad news that they want me to comment on so I thought why not come and do something trivial," he told presenters Ant and Dec.

Paddick added that life in the jungle was a combination of hunger and boredom and had lost a stone in two weeks.

"It gets pretty tedious, if you don't get a trial or you don't get a celebrity chest to do you're just sitting around doing the same thing," he said.

"Even the conversations were repeating themselves after a while because you just run out of things to say."

His departure leaves six celebrities fighting it out in the jungle.

Asked who he thought should win, Paddick said: "Simon [Webbe]. No doubt, no hesitation. He is such a talented guy, such a good guy and such a role model."

The winner, voted for by the public, will be revealed during a live show on Friday night.
