Scott Bruton, who hung up his Pontin's Bluecoat to pursue his singing dream, has become the third act to be voted off ITV's The X Factor. An emotional Louis Walsh said the 19-year-old had been "going through the motions" in the sing-off, and gave the deciding vote to Daniel Evans. Fellow judge Cheryl Cole said Daniel, 38, had shown passion and belief in his performance in the sing-off. A stunned Scott thanked friends, family and Pontin's for believing in him. Ratings battle The teenager was mentored by Simon Cowell, who still has Eoghan Quigg and Austin Drage in the final. The two other acts to have been voted out of the competition so far are Girl Band and Bad Lashes, both mentored by Louis Walsh. The remaining nine finalists will sing again on next Saturday's live show. Meanwhile, The X Factor is marginally ahead in its ratings battle with BBC One rival Strictly Come Dancing. The ITV1 show attracted an average audience of 9.7 million viewers, compared to 9.3 million for the celebrity ballroom competition. Both programmes peaked with audiences of around 10.6 million.
