 James Franco and Seth Rogan team up in Pineapple Express |
Marijuana-themed comedy Pineapple Express has come out on top at the UK and Irish box office in its first week. The movie, starring Seth Rogan and James Franco as a pot smoker and his dealer, took �1.3m over the weekend. Abba musical musical Mamma Mia! remained second in the chart, while last week's number one, RocknRolla, slipped down to third. The second highest new entry was chick flick The Women, at number four. Mamma Mia's popularity shows no sign of waning, with its 10-week run seeing it take more than �58m in the UK and Ireland. Holocaust film The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, based on the best-selling novel by John Boyne, entered the chart at number eight. Pineapple Express was co-written by Rogen and produced by Judd Apatow, who have previously worked together on comedies Superbad and Knocked Up.
