White wrote, produced and recorded the track with Keys |
White Stripes frontman Jack White says James Bond was the key to finally getting him to work with Alicia Keys. White and Keys have recorded the duet Another Way to Die, the theme tune for the next Bond film, Quantum of Solace. But White has said he had been wanting to collaborate with the award-winning R&B star for "a couple of years". Meanwhile, the US cinema release of Quantum of Solace has been pushed back by a week after the new Harry Potter film was also delayed. Quantum of Solace will now hit the big screen on 14 November. 'New voice' White, who also performs with The Raconteurs, said: "Alicia put some electric energy into her breath that cemented itself into the magnetic tape. Very inspiring to watch. He said the the collaboration "gave me a new voice, and I wasn't myself any more". The new film will be Daniel Craig's second appearance as James Bond |
He added: "I drummed for her voice and she mimicked the guitar tones, then we joined our voices and screamed and moaned about these characters in the film and their isolation, having no-one to trust, not even themselves. Maybe we became them for a few minutes." The move by Sony to delay the release of Quantum of Solace follows Warner Bros' decision last week to push back Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince from 21 November to July 2009. "Harry Potter moving out gave us an opportunity to get a little closer to the holidays," Sony worldwide marketing chairman Jeff Blake said. "Bond has a really good history of not only playing through Thanksgiving but going deep into the Christmas holidays." Quantum of Solace will receive its world premiere 29 October in London, two days before its UK opening. Prince William and Prince Harry will attend the screening.
