Dale's recent TV credits include 24, Ugly Betty, Lost and NCIS |
Ugly Betty star Alan Dale and actress Kelly Brook are to appear in a new series of ITV1 sitcom Moving Wallpaper. The spoof documentary about the production of a soap opera, was launched earlier this year - along with the soap itself, Echo Beach. But while the comedy was well-received by ITV audiences, Echo Beach was axed. Dale and Brook will also star in a one-off drama, Renaissance, which is being made by Moving Wallpaper's hapless, fictional producer, Jonathan Pope. The comedy will pick up where the last series ended, with comedian Ben Miller reprising his role as Pope. The megalomaniac producer is awaiting his fate at the hands of ITV1's head of continuing drama. Despite the end of Echo Beach, a clause in Pope's contract means ITV must now offer him a pilot to produce - and that show is Renaissance. Renaissance features Dale as a family man flying home from a holiday when the plane is attacked by zombies. In the panic, Dale's character is thrown together with another passenger, played by Brook. Both Renaissance and the new six-episode series of Moving Wallpaper are due to to be broadcast in early 2009.
