Apprentice reject was 'too zany'

Lucinda Ledgerwood has failed to make the final of The Apprentice after being branded "too zany" by Sir Alan Sugar.

The 32-year-old from Edinburgh said Sir Alan's decision was the "right" one, adding that the job was not for her.

The former risk manager, known for her colourful outfits, said she "didn't have an easy time" on the programme.

Ledgerwood tipped Claire Young to win next week's finale of the BBC One show ahead of fellow finalists Lee McQueen, Helene Speight and Alex Wotherspoon.

The four were chosen ahead of Ledgerwood in the penultimate round.

Each of the five was interviewed at length by four leading business people, including Birmingham City managing director Karren Brady.

'Scapegoat'

Ledgerwood added that throughout her tenure on the series she "had not been liked" at times.

"My accent wasn't liked and what I wore wasn't liked," she said.

"On occasions, it was verging on bullying. I do not advocate bullying or bitchiness.

"The boys paired up and I was an easy scapegoat but I don't regret going on the show.

"I've learnt not to be so naive, not to wear colour if you want to blend in," she added.

Ledgerwood said that some of the challenges were too sales based.

And of her rival Speight, who she clashed with on the show, Ledgerwood said: "I don't think I know anyone who would want to work for her."

Next week's episode will see Young, McQueen, Speight and Wotherspoon split into two teams for the final task.

The two candidates in the losing team will automatically be out of the running to become Sir Alan's Apprentice.
