Duffy's single Mercy was number one for five weeks in the UK chart |
Welsh soul singer Duffy has entered the US album chart at number four with her debut record Rockferry. The star, who topped the UK album and singles charts simultaneously earlier this year, adds to the list of British female musical successes in the US. X Factor winner Leona Lewis became the first British female to top the US singles rundown in more than 20 years with Bleeding Love in March. Natasha Bedingfield's second album made its debut at number three in January. Two months later, Devon singer Joss Stone entered the US album chart at number two after selling 118,000 copies in its first week. US indie band Death Cab For Cutie scored the first chart-topping album of their 10-year career, going straight in at number one with Narrow Stairs. Barbadian star Rihanna topped the singles countdown, climbing from number 53 with Take A Bow. The singer is best known for her worldwide hit Umbrella, which topped the charts last summer.
