Tube comedy film flops at cinema

London Underground was paid location and advertising fees for the film

Tube comedy Three and Out has failed to enter the top 10 in its first week of cinema release.

The film, starring Mackenzie Crook as a driver looking for someone who will commit suicide under his train, took �189,454 to open at number 12.

The subject matter has been widely criticised by train unions and drivers who protested at the London premiere.

Russell Brand's Forgetting Sarah Marshall topped the chart, taking �1.75m in three days.

Brand plays a sex-obsessed rock star in the comedy, which has also taken the US by storm.

Jessica Alba's The Eye is in second place with takings of �704,655, while Kevin Spacey's gambling drama 21 dropped from the top spot to number three.

The film, based on the true story of a group of US students who employ card-counting techniques to cheat a casino, took �1m in its second week.

Fool's Gold, starring Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey in the treasure-hunting adventure comedy, was in fourth place, down from number two.

In Bruges, a black comedy about two hitmen starring Colin Farrell and Ralph Fiennes, was at five with takings of �408,048.

Son of Rambow fell one place to number six.

Deception was another new entry at seven, while Keanu Reeves action thriller Street Kings, fell four places to number eight.

Also dropping down the chart were fantasy film The Spiderwick Chronicles, from six to nine, and Mike Leigh's quirky comedy Happy-Go-Lucky dropped one spot to round out the top 10.
