Jo Joyner (left) won best actress, one of seven prizes for EastEnders |
EastEnders has been named best soap at the Digital Spy Soap Awards, in which all of the prizes were voted for by users of the Digital Spy website. James Sutton took the accolade for best actor as John Paul McQueen in Hollyoaks while Jo Joyner, who plays EastEnders' Tanya Branning, was top actress.
EastEnders won seven of the 14 categories, including best single episode, for Phil and Stella's wedding.
One of the five awards for Hollyoaks was for storyline of the year.
This was in recognition of episodes featuring an affair between John Paul and Craig.
The only prize landed by Coronation Street was best villain of the past 12 months, recognising Jack P Shepherd's portrayal of David Platt.
