Bebo has 40 million members worldwide |
ITV2 has agreed a deal with social networking site Bebo which will allow some of the channel's shows to be broadcast online for free. The first series to be shown on the website will be US show Gossip Girl.
Each programme will have a member profile, which users can become "fans" of, so they will be notified when new content is uploaded.
BBC, Channel 4, BSkyB and MTV are among broadcasters enabling Bebo users to view free footage.
ITV2's controller Zai Bennett said the partnership was "quite simply a great fit".
Other clips on the site include ITN sport and entertainment bulletins, music videos from MTV and footage from smaller TV producers such as Sumo.TV and Kontraband
Bebo has 40 million members worldwide, many of whom are within the 13 to 24-year-old age range attractive to advertisers.
The site, founded in 2005, is currently the UK's second most popular social networking site after Facebook, although it has had less success overseas.
