The Beatles lived in the flat for several months |
A flat once rented by the Beatles in London is up for sale for 1.75m. The band shared the three-bedroom top floor property in Green Street, Mayfair in the autumn of 1963.
Manager Brian Epstein found the flat to give the band privacy from hordes of screaming fans following their second number one hit She loves You.
Although the band only stayed there for a few months, it is the only home in which all four Beatles lived together. The flat is for sale with Sotheby's.
'Two-bed refurbishment'
An early publicity photo of the Fab Four peering over a banister, used as the cover for the December 1963 edition of The Beatles Book, was taken at the top of the property's communal stairwell.
The residence has now been refurbished into a two-bedroom apartment.
It has been used periodically by its present owner, who is based in California.
"The owner is aware of its history, but hasn't turned it into a Beatles shrine or anything like that," said estate agent Peter Bevan.
