Josh Brolin stars in No Country For Old Men

It beat fellow nominees There Will Be Blood, Juno, Michael Clayton and The Diving Bell and the Butterfly at the Producers Guild of America ceremony.

The movie, which stars Javier Bardem as a hitman pursuing Josh Brolin, is nominated for eight Academy Awards.

It has also won the top prizes from the actors' and directors' guilds.

Joel and Ethan Cohen, along with Scott Rudin, also won the producer of the year ward for their work on the film.

It puts the crime drama in pole position for success at the Oscars on 24 February.

Other winners at the Los Angeles ceremony included Ratatouille, which won the best animated film prize for Disney and Pixar.

In the guild's television prizes, episodic TV comedy of the year went to NBC's 30 Rock, while The Sopranos won best drama.

HBO's Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee, a film chronicling events leading up to the massacre of American Indians at Wounded Knee Creek in 1890, won in the long-form TV category, while Michael Moore's Sicko won best documentary.
