Abrahams replaces GMTV presenter Michael Underwood |
Ex-Coronation Street actress Zaraah Abrahams has joined ITV's Dancing on Ice as a replacement for injured GMTV presenter Michael Underwood. The 20-year-old, who played Joanna Jackson in the soap, has been practising since November as a reserve.
Underwood had been forced to pull out of the show after breaking his ankle during a training session.
Meanwhile, singer Samantha Mumba became the third star to be eliminated, losing out to athlete Steve Backley.
Abrahams is partnered by Fred Palascak, who originally danced with presenter Sarah Greene before she was voted off the show in its first week.
'Pressure'
"I always said I'd only ever want to go in if someone couldn't take the pressure of the competition, not if someone hurt themselves," she said.
The actress said she had been practising but admitted the other contestants would have the edge when it comes to confidence on the ice:
"I'd say my ability on the ice at the minute is probably where the other contestants were in the second show. I think I'm pretty up to scratch though. They've all got that out of the way with the first show but it's harder for me."
Pop star Mumba failed to win the support of the judges who unanimously voted to save ex-javelin thrower Backley in a final skate-off.
"I've really enjoyed myself. This is something I'm going to keep up," she said.
