Winehouse has reportedly been to a drugs clinic in London |
Police have confirmed officers will look at a newspaper's video footage of singer Amy Winehouse apparently smoking a crack pipe. In the video, the star is apparently seen inhaling from a lit pipe after saying she had taken "six valium".
A Scotland Yard spokesman said: "We will assess the footage to ascertain whether any action needs to be taken."
Her record company, Universal, said it was "deeply disappointed and upset" after the video was published online.
'Focus her mind'
"We are doing everything we can to offer Amy our full support in dealing with her problems," the statement added.
The images were said to have been filmed at Winehouse's east London home in the early hours of Friday, hours before she turned up late for husband Blake Fielder-Civil's court hearing.
The Sun, which published the footage on its website on Tuesday, claims the 24-year-old singer visited a drugs clinic in north-west London along with her father, Mitch.
The paper quotes him as saying the video "may finally be the thing to focus her mind and convince her to get the help she needs to quit for good".
Winehouse is due back in court in Bergen, Norway on 29 February to appeal against a fine for possessing cannabis.
She is scheduled to perform with Mark Ronson at the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles on 10 February, where she is nominated for six prizes.
