Lemar has won several awards including Brits and Mobos
Singer Lemar is "overwhelmed" after his partner gave birth to a baby girl named Nyiema Obika, his spokeswoman has said.

Charmaine Powell gave birth at London's private Portland hospital on Saturday evening. The baby weighed seven pounds.

A spokeswoman said: "Lemar is overwhelmed on the birth of his beautiful daughter. Mother and little baby girl are both doing fine."

Lemar Obika reached the public eye on the first series of BBC talent show Fame Academy in 2002.

He used the opportunity to launch a successful music career, winning two Brit Awards and three Mobos for his blend of soul and R&B.

The 29-year-old singer-songwriter from Tottenham, north London, has released four hit albums.
