Paul Allen: Rock lover and fan of Jimi Hendrix

Singer Terry Davison said: "It just started off as a bunch of guys getting together to jam and took off from there.

"Paul has a very nice little studio, we had enough material, so we decided, let's make an album."

So far, the band have played club gigs and corporate events in the Seattle are, although it did also open the House of Blues club and restaurant in Las Vegas in March 1999.

Allen plays some guitar solos on the album as well, and his billions have enabled them to spend two years working on the record in professional studios.

But Davison says the richest member of the band - who founded Microsoft with Bill Gates in 1975 - doesn't dominate it.

"I think we created a monster. He tends to dive in and go for it, but everybody contributed. This wasn't just Paul's band."

The album is being sold through Seattle-based e-commerce outfit Mercata.com, in which Allen is a founding investor.

Allen is well known of his love for rock music, and especially Jimi Hendrix.

He is opening an interactive music museum, the Experience Music Project, in Seattle on 23 June.
