Sienna Miller earned positive reviews for her role in Factory Girl |
British actors Sienna Miller and Sam Riley have been nominated for the Rising Star prize at this year's Bafta Awards in February. Transformers star Shia LaBeouf, Chinese actress Tang Wei and Juno's Ellen Page have also made the shortlist.
The five nominees were chosen by a panel including TV presenter Alex Zane and last year's winner, Casino Royale actress Eva Green.
Fans can vote for the winner on the website of the award's sponsor, Orange.
The award was created to recognise the talent of young international actors, but is not intended to be a prize for beginners.
Tang Wei won the best performer award at the Golden Horse Awards |
Nominees will generally have already appeared in several feature films. Miller became a regular in the newspapers during her relationship with actor Jude Law and their subsequent split.
She went on to earn positive reviews for playing Edie Sedgwick, Andy Warhol's muse, in Factory Girl.
Riley burst on to the scene with his portrayal of Joy Division singer Ian Curtis in Control, while LaBeouf appears in the Indiana Jones comeback.
Meanwhile, Wei starred in Ang Lee's explicit World War II spy thriller Lust, Caution, for which she won a Golden Lion award at the Venice Film Festival.
Finola Dwyer, chairman of the Bafta Film Committee, said: "We're sure that the five nominees for the Orange Rising Star Award will ensure that this will be one of the most exciting awards of the night."
