A giant replica guitar signed by Sir Paul McCartney has sold for �60,000 at auction in London. The 10ft hand-painted Gibson Les Paul, signed by the former-Beatle, went under the hammer for charity at the O2.
It was one of 60 guitars sold to raise money for Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy, the Prince's Trust and the Teenage Cancer Trust.
Sir Paul said: "I'm really amazed and very happy that the guitar went for so much and for such a great cause."
Ronnie Wood's guitar sold for �11,000, while the Wall-themed instrument owned by Pink Floyd legend Roger Waters fetched �10,500.
Slash's Gibson guitar went for �8,500 and Paul Weller's guitar, designed by Sir Peter Blake, reached �8,000..
Nicky Weller, fundraising manger of Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy, said: "We are thrilled with the end result of the auction and our sincere thanks goes out to all involved and everyone who bid on the night."
Ari Goldberger, the successful bidder for the McCartney giant guitar, will donate it to London's Great Ormond Street Hospital for children.
