| Tuesday, 11 April, 2000, 10:56 GMT 11:56 UK Gromit team unleashes Angry Kid ![]() Angry Kid makes his debut on 8 May The team behind Wallace and Gromit will unveil its latest animated creation - Angry Kid - on the internet next month. Angry Kid is a bicycle-riding adolescent boy from a dysfunctional family who will perform 60-second diatribes against the world around him.
His run-ins with the police, several near-road crashes lead his father to disown him, saying he should be sent to a "children's home". Michael Rose, head of film and TV productions at Aardman Animations, said: "He's anarchic, irreverent and definitely not suitable for family viewing - perfect for the internet." A spokeswoman for the company said the character would be heard swearing in at least one episode. The new adventures will be shown on a website operated by US-based outfit AtomFilms, which is currently showing highlights from Aardman's back catalogue.
Aardman is best-known for creating the Creature Comforts series, as well as Wallace and Gromit, both created by Nick Park. Park is currently working on the studio's first feature film, Chicken Run. It stars the voice of Mel Gibson as a rooster named Rocky who tries to escape captivity on a poultry farm with his girlfriend, a chicken named Ginger. It will be released in June 2000 by DreamWorks SKG - the company co-owned by Steven Spielberg - which recently signed a deal to distribute Aardman's next four feature films. |
