Radio 2 is still the country's most popular station |
The number of people tuning in to radio in the UK dropped during the last quarter, according to industry ratings body Rajar. Adult listener numbers fell by 760,000 from 45.6m to 44.9m.
But BBC Radio's audience share remained steady at 54.4%, compared with 54.3% in the last two quarters.
Digital listening has increased - 15% of radio listening is now via a digital platform. Radio 2 is still the country's most popular station.
Its breakfast presenter, Terry Wogan, is down 240,000 from the previous quarter.
Chris Moyles' BBC Radio 1's breakfast show has also lost 270,000 compared with the last quarter.
However both hosts are attracting more listeners than they were at the same point last year.
A spokesman for Radio 1 said: "When you have listeners of almost seven million, a dip like this is not a problem."
The trend for radio audiences to fall slightly is traditional with people going on holiday in the summer.
