The Arctic Monkeys, Muse and the Kaiser Chiefs will compete for glory at Q magazine's award ceremony next month. The British rock bands have been nominated for three awards each, as have US favourites The Killers.
The Killers, the Arctic Monkeys and Muse are all nominated for the top award, best act in the world today, alongside the Foo Fighters and U2.
The Arcade Fire and the Manic Street Preachers are both up for two awards. The winners will be named on 8 October.
The winners and nominees are voted for by the magazine's readers.
The shortlist for best album includes the Arctic Monkeys, Amy Winehouse, Kaiser Chiefs, Arcade Fire and the Manic Street Preachers.
Knights honoured
But there was no place for the Klaxons, who won the Mercury Music Prize last week.
The Kaiser Chiefs' hit Ruby is nominated for both best track and best video.
Suburban Knights by Hard-Fi and Knights of Cydonia by Muse are also in the running to win best track.
That category is completed by the Manic Street Preachers' Your Love Alone... and Hurricane by Athlete.
