David Beckham's US soccer career has been hit by injuries |
Posh Spice Victoria Beckham will be hoping not to win her latest award nomination - one half of funniest double act alongside husband David. The pair are up for the prize, from lads' magazine Loaded, based on their attempt to conquer the US.
Editor Martin Daubney said the pair's move to the US had got "the British public laughing".
Opponents include C4 stars Alan Carr and Justin Lee Collins, and the Peep Show's David Mitchell and Robert Webb.
The Mighty Boosh duo Noel Fielding and Julian Barratt and Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, who starred in hit film Hot Fuzz, complete the category.
"Perhaps it's Victoria's growing comedy chest or her attempts to integrate into American culture by pitching at baseball matches," added Mr Daubney, commenting on the couple's nomination.
Brand success
The couple's move to the United States was prompted by former England captain David Beckham signing for Los Angeles Galaxy, but his US soccer career has been stalled by injury problems.
A documentary in July about the couple's experiences in America was panned by critics.
Other Loaded Lafta nominees include Russell Brand, Justin Lee Collins, Catherine Tate and Ashley Jensen.
Collins is pitched against his TV co-star Alan Carr in the funniest man award, where they take onl Brand, Will Ferrell, and cartoon character Homer Simpson.
Brand is nominated for two other award: best stand-up and funniest newspaper columnist.
Extras star Ashley Jensen takes on Catherine Tate, Michelle Gomez, Olivia Colman and Karen Taylor in the funniest woman category.
Peter Andre is up for Funniest Reality TV Person for his part in ITV series Katie and Peter: The Next Chapter.
The ceremony will be held in London on 4 October.
