America's Got Talent is produced by Simon Cowell |
Simon Cowell's US reality TV hit America's Got Talent has been sold to 80 countries around the world. The show, which is broadcast on NBC, has been signed up in a raft of deals across Europe, Asia, and the Americas, according to trade magazine Variety.
Produced by the UK's Fremantle Media and Cowell's Syco TV, the format itself has also been sold to 16 countries.
Opera singer Paul Potts won ITV's version, Britain's Got Talent, when it aired in June.
The 36-year-old former mobile phone salesman, who was signed by Cowell after winning the ITV1 show, has since gone on to have a number one album.
The show invites talent of any kind to perform, and the US version has included jugglers, comedians and a rapping grandmother.
It will be shown in Asia after Fremantle Media Enterprises secured a pan-regional deal with Star TV.
The company also struck deals with On Media in South Korea, Mediacorp TV in Singapore, TVB in Hong Kong, Solar in the Philippines and UBC TV in Thailand.
A pan-regional deal with Sony will see the show broadcast across parts of central and south America and the Caribbean, while in Canada, the company has signed deals with CTV and TVA.
Elsewhere, the show has been picked up by ITV2 in the UK, TV3 in Ireland, TV4 in Sweden, Channel 4 in Finland, 365 Media in Iceland, the Seven Network in Australia and Sky TV in New Zealand.
