Harry Potter has gone straight to the top of the cinema chart in the UK and Ireland, earning six times as much as its nearest rival in only three days. The Order of the Phoenix generated �16.5m, while last week's number one - animated comedy Shrek the Third - dropped to number two with �2.8m.
The young wizard's fifth big screen adventure was also last weekend's most popular movie in North America.
Elsewhere in the UK and Ireland, the fourth Die Hard film fell one to three.
Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer - an adaptation of a comic-book adventure - was also down one place at number four.
And completing the top five was Ocean's Thirteen, reuniting George Clooney and Brad Pitt in another heist drama.
There were only two other new entries in this week's top 10.
French romantic comedy Moliere made its debut at eight, while Bollywood movie Naqaab went in at number nine.
