Konnie Huq has co-hosted the show for nearly 10 years |
Long-serving Blue Peter presenter Konnie Huq has told viewers that she will be leaving the flagship children's show early next year. Huq, who becomes the longest-serving female presenter on the show in December, said: "When the time comes for my last show I'll be really sad.
"But I will have been here for over 10 years which is a Blue Peter record."
The BBC One show celebrates its 50th anniversary in October 2008.
Last week it was announced that Blue Peter was to be cut from three shows a week to two.
The BBC said the move would "allow Blue Peter to concentrate on more compelling and ambitious content".
Earlier this month, editor Richard Marson also announced he was to step down - two months after the show apologised for faking the results of a competition.
