Sir Paul McCartney received a Classical Brit earlier this month |
Sir Paul McCartney's solo catalogue is to be released digitally for the first time, EMI Music has announced. The former Beatle's solo albums and his work with Wings will be made available across all digital platforms.
As yet, however, EMI has no plans to make the Beatles' back catalogue available for digital download.
Tony Wadsworth, chairman of EMI Music UK, called Sir Paul's post-Beatles catalogue "one of the great treasures of popular music".
Wings re-release
"EMI is proud to be introducing Paul's music to the digital marketplace," he continued.
Albums to be re-released both digitally, online and for mobiles, and physically, include his first solo album McCartney, Wings' Band on the Run and Sir Paul's most recent studio album, Chaos And Creation In The Backyard.
McCartney recently received the Album of the Year award at the Classical Brit Awards for his classical release Ecce Cor Meum.
His next studio album, Memory Almost Full, is out on 4 June.
