Star Wars has been voted the most influential visual effects film of all time by a film trade organisation. The 1977 classic, directed by George Lucas, was voted by 1,500 members of the Visual Effects Society (VES).
Blade Runner, 2001: A Space Odyssey, The Matrix and Jurassic Park rounded out the top five.
The VES top 50 also includes King Kong, The Wizard of Oz, Ghostbusters, Raiders of the Lost Ark and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest.
Eric Roth, executive director of the VES, said: "These films have had a significant, lasting impact on the practice and appreciation of visual effects as an integral, artistic element of cinematic expression and the storytelling process."
The worldwide poll is the focus of the the group's Festival of Visual Effects, which will take place between 7 and 10 June in Los Angeles.
Star Wars has been honoured by VES before , when George Lucas was presented with the society's first Lifetime Achievement Award in 2004.
