Brown missed the christening of Geri Halliwell's child in London |
Former Spice girl Mel B has named her new daughter Angel Iris Murphy Brown. The child, the singer's second, was born in Los Angeles at the beginning of April. But a battle to confirm the identity of the father is looming.
Mel B, real name Melanie Brown, insists her daughter is the result of a relationship with actor Eddie Murphy and has named the baby after him.
But Murphy has publicly questioned the idea and demanded a DNA test to determine whether he is the father.
'Dream life'
In a statement, Brown said she had thought hard about the child's names: "Angel, as she was my little angel through my pregnancy.
"Iris, as it's my grandma's name. Murphy, because he's the dad. And Brown, because I'm the mum!"
Brown showed off Angel in this week's OK! magazine and said: "I look at the baby and she has his big smile and dimples.

"She's gorgeous. She has taken the best bits of both of us. He will always be a part of my life. I will always love him. I couldn't hate Eddie. We had a dream life." Brown was the only former member of the chart-topping group to miss the christening of Geri Halliwell's child, Bluebell Madonna, in London at the weekend.
Shortly after she and Murphy split at the end of last year, a TV interviewer asked the Hollywood actor if he was excited that Brown was pregnant.
"Now you're being presumptuous because we're not together any more," he replied.
"And I don't know whose child that is until it comes out and has a blood test. You shouldn't jump to conclusions, sir."
