Singer Stipe will showcase some of REM's new material
REM fans have been warned not to buy stolen tickets on the black market for a gig at Dublin's Olympia Theatre.

Police are investigating after 122 tickets for the gig, on 30 June, disappeared in transit between the UK and the venue box office last week.

A spokesman for concert promoter MCD said the band were warning fans not to be "misled into purchasing tickets at from unofficial sources".

All missing tickets have now been cancelled and will be deemed invalid.

Song showcase

Anyone who tries to gain entry with a stolen ticket will be refused access.

REM will play five nights at the 1,600 capacity and will showcase songs from their forthcoming spring recording sessions.

Producer Jacknife Lee, who has produced records for U2, Snow Patrol, Bloc Party and Aqualung will be working with the band.

REM, best known for their songs Losing My Religion and Everybody Hurts, have released 13 studio albums.
