Award-winning BBC newsreader Moira Stuart has been left without a regular TV slot after being replaced on the bulletins of political show Sunday AM. "She's still working for the BBC at the moment," said a spokeswoman, who declined to reveal why Stuart had been dropped from Andrew Marr's programme.
It would be "hugely unfair" to discuss the contract of any presenter, the spokeswoman added.
Stuart, 55, has been a familiar face on BBC News since joining in 1981.
During that time, she has been seen on output as diverse as Top of the Pops, the Chelsea Flower Show and family history programme Who Do You Think You Are.
She spent six years on BBC Breakfast until the weekday programme was revamped last May and newsreading was integrated into the main presenters' duties.
Stuart - who was made an OBE in 2001 - had been working on Sunday AM since then.
