Ant (left) and Dec had cameo roles in comedy film Love Actually |
British TV personalities Ant and Dec are to record a pilot of a new game show for the ABC network in the US. Wanna Bet? will feature celebrity guests, with viewers invited to perform stunts and gamble on the outcomes.
If it proves successful, the programme, based on a hit German format, will be broadcast - but the pair will not move to the US on a permanent basis.
"It will be something they fit in around their UK commitments," their spokesman said.
Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly are two of the UK's most popular TV stars, having presented a string of successful ITV series including I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here and Pop Idol.
'Instant chemistry'
Their appearance in Hugh Grant's comedy film Love Actually brought them to the attention of US audiences, but so far they have not presented a TV show there.
"They've got an instant chemistry that you can't manufacture," executive producer Phil Gurin told trade publication Variety.
"British people watched them grow up on TV. These are two people who really like each other."
Mr Gurin was the man who introduced the US to Anne Robinson through the American version her quiz, The Weakest Link.
