US reality TV star Nicole Richie has pleaded not guilty to charges of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol. The 25-year-old star of The Simple Life was arrested on 11 December after allegedly driving the wrong way down a Los Angeles motorway.
Police said she told them she had taken a painkiller and smoked marijuana.
Ms Richie did not appear at Glendale Superior Court, near Los Angeles, but entered the plea through her lawyer.
A further hearing was set for 2 April.
