Indie rock band The Jesus and Mary Chain are to reform for a US music festival, organisers have said. The Scottish group built a reputation in the 1980s for drug influenced lyrics, music infused with electrical feedback and volatile gigs.
The band, whose line-up has not been confirmed, are due to appear at the three-day Coachella Music Festival, in California in April.
Thrash-rockers Rage Against the Machine will also reform for the event.
The Jesus and Mary Chain found success with their 1985 debut album Psychocandy at a time they were also making headlines for fights at their concerts.
After a tension-filled tour in 1998 - during which a member walked out - the band officially split the following year.
This is the eighth year of the Coachella Music Festival but the first time it has been held over three days.
Other artists scheduled to perform include another reunited band, Crowded House, plus Willie Nelson, the Arctic Monkeys and Jarvis Cocker.
