Both ABC and NBC were reportedly bidding for Hilton interviews |
CNN's Larry King is to interview jailed celebrity heiress Paris Hilton on Wednesday, a day after her release. The announcement follows a battle between rivals ABC and NBC over who would secure an interview. CNN said she would not be paid for the appearance.
Hilton, 26, is due to be released on Tuesday after almost three-and-a-half weeks in a California jail.
The reality TV star was sentenced on 3 June to 45 days in jail for violating probation on a driving ban.
But crowded jail conditions and time off for good behaviour will mean that she is released after 24 days.
She was briefly freed on medical grounds earlier this month, but was sent back to jail by a court.
Both ABC and NBC said on Friday that they were no longer interested in pursuing an interview with Hilton after a number of reports linked them to her.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department did not say at what time Hilton would be released, but already authorities have banned parking in streets around her home in Hollywood Hills.
Neighbours have complained of cars blocking their streets and helicopters flying low overhead every time there is a development in the case.
She was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol last September and was given probation, which she violated several times by driving with a suspended licence.
