Fisher said she had expected to get bad reviews |
The Sound Of Music star Connie Fisher has been nominated for a newcomers' award by ITV's South Bank Show. The 23-year-old was given rave reviews for her performance in the revival of the iconic musical after winning the role in the BBC One talent contest.
She is one of 10 young nominees for the award, which will be announced at a ceremony on 23 January.
Other nominees are trumpeter Alison Balsom and Never Mind The Buzzcocks presenter Simon Amstell.
Each nominee covers an area of the arts, such as literature, visual arts and dance.
'Great reputations'
Rafi Gavron, who appears opposite Jude Law in new film Breaking and Entering, is the film nominee.
Host Melvyn Bragg said: "The awards go to British artists across the spectrum who have achieved great things in the year.
"This award brings to a wide public the best of new young talent in the country, many of whom, young as they are, are already out there making what could well be great and deserved reputations."
Last year's winner was Doctor Who star Billie Piper.
