A "concept drawing" of a spacecraft from the Thunderbirds TV series has fetched �6,000 at auction. The sale at Bonhams, in London, also featured designs and models from other Gerry Anderson series including Stingray, Joe 90 and Captain Scarlet.
Many came from the pen of acclaimed special effects guru Derek Meddings.
The majority of the drawings fetched between �700 and �4,500, but a head and shoulders model of Captain Scarlet failed to reach its reserve of �24,000.
Other high-profile lots included John Lennon's hat, which sold for �9,600 and a pair of Marilyn Monroe's trousers which fetched �4,920.
A range of Beatles memorabilia also attracted a lot of interest.
Along with the hat, an unpublished set of photographs of The Beatles taken during the filming of the BBC documentary The Mersey Sound in August 1963 more than doubled their estimated value of �2,000, selling for �5,400.
"Lots of Beatles things sold very well, there is obviously a very strong market for the Beatles still," a Bonhams spokeswoman said.
But the Captain Scarlet model was not the only item which failed to sell.
A mink coat given to Richard Burton by Elizabeth Taylor, valued at �5,000-�8,000 and a portrait of Mick Jagger by artist Cecil Beaton, expected to fetch �10,000-�15,000, did not reach their reserve.
