The band send fans a personalised text message in the video |
Irish boyband Westlife are allowing fans to play a part in their latest music video. Visitors to the group's website can "star" in a custom version of the video simply by submitting their name.
The name is then integrated into several scenes, appearing on a wedding invitation and a text message sent by a member of the group.
The interactive video, which is for the band's twentieth single, The Rose, was created by British firm 20:20 London.
They have used the technology before to put user's names in online adverts for films and video games, but this is the first time it has been used in a music video.
Westlife are one of the most successful pop acts of recent years, with a tally of 13 number one singles in the UK.
Often derided for their reliance on cover versions and ballads, the quartet have nonetheless sold more than 35 million records worldwide.
They have been together for eight years and survived the departure of original member Bryan McFadden in 2004.
