Cher is renowned for her jewellery-encrusted costumes |
Possessions belonging to singer and actress Cher have been sold at an auction in Los Angeles. Items that came under the hammer in Beverly Hills included her rhinestone costumes and a pair of fur boots which belonged to ex-husband Sonny Bono.
Some gowns sold for more than their estimated $6,000 (3,200). A 1970s record player fetched $1,400 (745).
The sale is expected to raise $1m for charity, while Cher will use some proceeds to renovate her home.
'Doesn't care'
She is replacing the Gothic decorations of her Malibu mansion in favour of a Moroccan-Tibetan look.
A long-standing fan of the performer, Chris Gayton from Palm Springs in California, said: "I thought it would be interesting to have some pieces of her memorabilia.
"She does what she wants to do and doesn't care what people think."
Among the 800 personal effects in the two-day auction is a Bentley coupe, works of art and furniture - including a bed.
