Dame Elizabeth Taylor has not acted since 2001 |
Dame Elizabeth Taylor has given auction house Christie's exclusive rights to future sales of her artwork, clothing, memorabilia and other possessions. The 74-year-old star said she hoped the items she had collected would "be loved and respected in a sharing way" when they are passed on to new owners.
The auction house had previously sold gowns and jewellery on her behalf.
The deal, it said, "marks a fantastic continuation of our many years of work with this stunning film legend".
Proceeds from previous sales, including that of a diamond and emerald ring from former husband Richard Burton, have gone towards Taylor's Aids Foundation.
Shark dive
The two-time Oscar winner has been incapacitated in recent years by persistent heart and back ailments.
Earlier this year, however, she appeared on a CNN talk show to deny reports she was suffering from Alzheimer's disease.
And the actress was photographed last month taking part in a shark dive off the coast of Oaha during a holiday in Hawaii.
In a letter to US gossip columnist Liz Smith, she described the dive as "the most exciting thing I've done in my life".
