Ms Rowe formerly was a nurse for Mr Jackson's dermatologist |
Michael Jackson has been ordered to pay $60,000 (32,000) in legal fees to his former wife as she fights for custody of their two children. Deborah Rowe had sought $195,000 (103,000) but Superior Court Judge Robert A Schnider declined, noting she had been due an $8m divorce settlement.
Ms Rowe has claimed Mr Jackson stopped making payments to her in 2003.
The judge gave Mr Jackson, who now lives in Bahrain, until 28 September to pay the costs.
In a 2001 agreement, Ms Rowe waived all access rights to the pair's children, Prince Michael and Paris.
But she went to court in 2004 to have that decision reversed and is now fighting for custody.
Lawyers for Mr Jackson and Ms Rowe are due to meet next week in a bid to settle the custody case.
Neither of them was in court for the latest hearing.
Mr Jackson married the former nurse in 1999, and they divorced three years later.
