Ms Lopez is now married to Marc Anthony |
A dispute over a proposed book by Jennifer Lopez's former husband will not have to go to court, according to lawyers for both parties. Representatives of Ms Lopez, 37, and Ojani Noa told Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Victor H Person the matter could be settled through arbitration.
Ms Lopez obtained a restraining order in April barring Mr Noa from publishing intimate details about her.
The next pre-trial hearing is set for 17 October.
The restraining order was extended to become a preliminary injunction on 30 June at the agreement of both Ms Lopez and Mr Noa.
Ms Lopez was married to Cuban-born Mr Noa - her first husband - for less than a year before they divorced in 1998.
The singer was not present at Wednesday's hearing but will have to attend if the judge orders a mandatory settlement discussion.
Lawyers for both parties were unavailable for comment.
Ms Lopez, who is also a Hollywood actress, married second husband dancer Cris Judd in 2001. They got divorced just seven months later.
She and ex-fiance Ben Affleck split in early 2004, and she married singer Marc Anthony five months later.
