Robbie's millennium message of hope
News image Williams didn't mind getting his hands dirty for Unicef

Chart-topper Robbie Williams lent a hand to Unicef as he helped mark 10 years of the UN convention on children's rights.

The singer, currently at number one with She's The One, entertained a group of schoolchildren as he added his handprint to a display marking the anniversary.

Williams added his own millennium message to the display at the Museum of Childhood, in London's Bethnal Green, writing: "Every child has the right to dream and have their dream fulfilled - I did".

Youngsters from Torriano Junior School, in Kentish Town, London, were delighted when the singer smeared his face with paint and asked them: "Have I got paint on my face? Should I leave it on, or wash it off?"

The pop star, who has been working for the UN in an "ambassador" role, said he was keen to help the children's charity he visited in Sri Lanka last summer.

He said: "I have a very, very easy life - I've been a very lucky person and I've been given a lot. I wan't to give something back.

"I've got to the point in my career now where I'm very successful and I don't worry about what other people think.

"I'm financially secure, I can give stuff back and I'm aiming to do an awful lot of it.
