Nelly celebrates six weeks at top
Nelly Furtado
Nelly Furtado's third album Loose was released in June
Canadian pop singer Nelly Furtado is celebrating her sixth week at the top of Billboard's Hot 100 singles chart.

Promiscuous, recorded with US rapper Timbaland and taken from her third album Loose, is now the longest-running US number one of the year.

But it still has some way to go to beat Kanye West's Gold Digger, which held onto the top spot for 10 weeks in 2005.

Earlier this week Furtado's Promiscuous video was nominated for three MTV Video Music Awards.

The 27-year-old, best known for her song I'm Like a Bird, scored a number one hit in the UK in June with Maneater.

Crazy by Gnarls Barkley, which held the top spot in the UK for nine weeks earlier this year, is a non-mover at number two in this week's Billboard chart.
