Bridget Jones author Helen Fielding has given birth to a girl, her publicist has revealed. It is the second child for the British-born writer, 48, and her partner, scriptwriter Kevin Curran.
"Mother and daughter are both doing fine, and everyone is delighted," said the author's publicist, Katherine Olim.
New instalments of Bridget Jones's Diary, which had been appearing in the Independent newspaper, stopped in June when the character also gave birth.
The final entry read: "Have never been so happy in entire life. Have given birth to baby who is sweetest little creature ever seen."
