Three of the Royal Opera's tenors have taught a crowd of 2,000 people to sing Nessun Dorma, the anthem associated with the 1990 football World Cup. The professionals got the audience in London's Covent Garden Piazza to join in when the aria was heard during a live performance of Puccini's Turandot.
The singing lesson was also enjoyed by about 28,000 spectators watching big screens in 11 other UK cities.
Turandot runs at London's Royal Opera House until 22 July.
Nessun Dorma reached number two in the UK singles chart in the summer of 1990, performed by the original Three Tenors - Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo and Jose Carreras.
Giancomo Puccini died in 1924 before he had finished Turandot, having been diagnosed with throat cancer while composing the opera.
Italian composer Franco Alfano completed it in 1926.
