A winner of the US reality television show Survivor has been charged after he allegedly shot a puppy with an arrow. The wife of Brian Heidik reported to police that he had shot a puppy on his property in Douglas County, Georgia, said Chief Deputy Stan Copeland.
Heidik, 38, fled in his car when sheriff's deputies arrived, but was quickly caught. He was later charged with battery and cruelty to animals.
Authorities took custody of the wounded dog and a second puppy.
Heidik's wife had reported that he planned to shoot the second puppy.
The former car salesman and part-time actor collected $1m (�540,000) as the winner of the 2002 series of Survivor, filmed in Thailand.
