Illegal Eminem ringtones make thousands of dollars, it is claimed |
Rapper Eminem's publishing companies have settled a court action with a firm selling mobile phone ringtones of the artist's songs over the internet. Eight Mile Style and Martin Affiliated launched the action last year in the US District Court against five companies, including Cellus US.
A Cellus US lawyer said it would stop selling the ringtones. He did not say if it had paid to settle the case.
A lawyer for Eminem said: "We reached an amicable agreement."
The Detroit News reported that the star's representatives reached an undisclosed settlement last week with Colorado-based Cellus US, and asked US District Court Judge Gerald E Rosen to approve the deal.
Howard Hertz, a lawyer for Eminem, said hundreds of thousands of dollars a year are made from illegal ringtones of his music.
